DJ:-Sharon Koch plus guest DJ sets for most Milongas
We have a TTVTTM set up, with no cortinas. Sympathetic orchestras are played next to each other to promote the flow in your dance, nice surprises, but no shocks of jumping from one era to another or opposite styles of tango placed next to each other.
From April 2012 onwards we have had guest DJs from our group taking over the music for a while during the evening. This is developing fantastically well and in time some of them will take on more than ‘just’ a guest set!
We are still mostly  Traditional tango, both early and Golden Age,  probably now about 98% – just the occasional ‘Special’ in some of the Milongas.
No Specials in the Tea Dances as the Gramaphone is the ‘Special’ :)

We started our monthly Milongas in 2008 but didn’t add ’5th Sunday Tea-Dances’ until 2011. They have been a great success and we continue to enjoy the special quality of the gramaphone being played during the afternoon.

5th Sunday Tea Dances

These are more irregular than the Milongas as they are dependant on the calendar providing us with a ’5th’ Sunday, it adds to their charm :)

in Pant Village Hall, Pant, A483, SY10 9QG

Time:- 3pm – 7pm

Cost:- £7

For 2017 we have one more 5th Sunday on a 1st Saturday!!

SATURDAY 4th November.

Yes I know this isn’t a “5th Sunday” but as we have Eric on the “5th” Sunday it has booted out the last Tea-Dance of the year and instead of missing it as we did last year I have been able to book the hall and have it on a different day this time. Somewhat unusual but I think worth the change :)

Tea, coffee, biscuits are available throughout the afternoon. Please do bring cakes or savouries and make this afternoon into a really tasty one!!!

Wow these have been great fun :) :) :)

I have had my gramophone fixed :)   Now I won’t have to wind up 3 times during every record!!!

5th Sunday Tea-Dances in 2018

29th April

29th July

30th September

… only three this year …

For those of you who haven’t been to a Tea-Dance, apart from the fabulous cakes that people bring, part of our fun is to dance to 78s played on my gramaphone, which requires winding to make it play music out of its needle head – slightly quieter than the electrically powered speakers  …. but oh so very nice. These are real tango records from Argentina, not a variety of ‘any ole music’. Most of the records we know, they just have a different quality played in this way. We don’t use it all afternoon just a tanda  :)
