Milongas

We have a monthly Milonga on the  3rd Saturday in the Oswestry area,

(part way between Chester and Shrewsbury)

in

Pant Village Hall, Pant, A483, Shropshire SY10 9QG

We have a line of dance and I DJ mostly traditional tango with an occasional specials in some Milongas. All of those who enjoy this social/salon style of tango are welcome, from absolute beginners to as many years experience as you can get!!

A note for Milongas in 2021:- These are going to be ‘booked’ events for 2021. So please book on if you wish to attend.

We have an upper limit of people allowed in the hall at the moment and although we are presently in Step 4 it could easily be down graded to Step 3 should the Covid virus ‘develop’. So I am being cautious and hoping that the format we have will be able to operate in either Step 😉 … maybe with a little tweaking??

At this moment, we may dance with whoever we wish (July 19th+ 2021 ) or exclusively with our own partner, your choice. The tables will be set out as normal but a couple of the tables will have only two chairs, for those dancing within their own couple.

The kitchen is now available for use, I will provide tea, coffee, milk, sugar. I think it wise that you still bring your own food, so biscuits, sweets etc. are aren’t provided at the moment.

Please do continue to take good care of cleanliness, hand washing/sanitizing and respecting other’s personal space. I clean the touchable surfaces before your arrival and the hall is ventilated 🙂

Please note the time are different from before Covid intervened, with a change from October.

Cost – £10 per person.

 Milongas for 2021

14th August 2021 – 6pm – 9pm

18th September  –  6pm – 9pm

16th October – 6pm – 9pm

20th November –  6pm – 9pm

18th December – 6pm – 9pm/10pm

Let’s hope that all of these can run and we remain able to dance for the rest of 2021!!!!! It has been soooo good to return to tango after such a long time and the dancing has been delightful, fun and soul quenching 🙂

DJ:-Sharon Koch plus guest DJ sets for most Milongas
We have a TTVTTM set up, with no cortinas. Sympathetic orchestras are played next to each other to promote the flow in your dance, nice surprises, but no shocks of jumping from one era to another or opposite styles of tango placed next to each other.
From April 2012 onwards we have had guest DJs from our group taking over the music for a while during the evening. This is developing fantastically well and in time some of them will take on more than ‘just’ a guest set!
We are still mostly  Traditional tango, both early and Golden Age,  probably now about 98% – just the occasional ‘Special’ in some of the Milongas.
